Weekly Review T1W3- Tuesday

I got up very early next morning so as to reach school early. I arrived in the classroom at about 6.40 am and spotted Eu Gene at his desk. "Worksheet please" was all I said. So I considered his answers and filled up my self printed worksheet. Everyone else as usual, was copying from one another (that includes me)... Isn't it just exciting?? (Use of literary device-Rhetorical Question). So Mr Ho lesson was quite fine... and not a lot of people spoke because they were all not sure of the exact answers. Next is drama, very exciting. Sheng Jie and I had whipped up a script during the weekends and it is written in Ancient Chinese Language, supposedly I guess... The plot revolves around the Qing empire imperial rivalry between princes... It was absolutely up to standard. And when it was our turn we acted out our play which was estimated to last around 15 mins. Just after the third scene, Miss Zhou stopped us and gave her comments...
"大家看看。这个剧本很好,可以看出这一组的用心。可是有一个问题,我们不可以给你们真么多时间。普通3分钟,最多只能给你们5分钟。你们回去修剪一下,把不必要的对白场子抽掉。这组是有史以来表现的最好组别之一。"
She basically means that she could see the amount of hard work our group had put in (actually the credit just belongs to Sheng Jie and me) and we had a very good script. But... our play is simply way too long... She said we needed to take out all the unnecessary scenes and dialogues to minimise the time to at most 5 mins. And... we were on of the BEST teams she ever seen... Below is an extract of the portion we definitely need to delete because Miss Zhou said it was too wordy.
"

After recess it was our usual weekly assembly in the auditorium. But today, we only had 1 period of Academic assessment rubrics briefing and then followed by 2 periods of PCME. The PCME was taught by Ms Yap and it was about anger management. After that, it was Chinese. Ms Teo walked in and we greeted her. Hoe Leong immediately gave her his script for Chinese newspaper journalists selection. Then she reminded those who wanted to be a journalist that the day after, which was Wednesday was the last day to hand in their scripts. Then the lesson went on and she said that we were not writing a situational letter on that day, contrary to her previous sayings. I felt quite fed-up because I brought my heavy, bulky, extraordinarily weightily dictionary!! Never mind, I am very
magnanimous. With the brooding of this issue, the lesson continued with the confused person, aka Johnny Kong or Confucius in short. Miss Teo required us to do some research on Confucius and create bookmarks of "The Analects of Confucius". Bookmarks, did I hear wrongly? Compulsory?? I was so screwed... After school I went for this impromptu debate by Team Alumni Singapore and Team Singapore, who will represent Singapore in the international world debate this year in Qatar later this year. In Team Singapore, there is only one Hwa Chong-ian in a Raffles dominating team, he is Ng Li Ki! I went for this debate to write it as my material for the script. So the motion was "Euthanasia". Team Alumni was the proposition and before the first speaker came out to express his points, I switched on my voice recorder to record the event. However, just after the first speaker, my phone went out of voice recording memory. Thus, I switched to video mode and put my phone on my lap, faced down, as there was a flash in video recording. At about an hour later, the debate ended. I went home. When I reached home, it was already 6.30pm after I bathed. To refresh my memory, I played the recordings and I was stunned. Very very muffled. So I squeezed all my brain juices to remember what were the salient points each side commented or rebutted. At about 10 pm, I finished two of my essays... in soft copies, DONE!
